Skin Fitting (Thru Hull) Installation Tools make the fitting of our certified Skin Fitting (Thru Hull) to be carried out quickly and simply by one person – traditionally a task that has required two people, saving time and money. METS Category Winner of the 2016 DAME award.
Ideally suited for boat builders.
Operation as follows:
- Click TruDesign Skin Fitting Installation Tool onto the correct Skin Fitting/Thru Hull (Recessed or Domed).
- Apply chosen marine-grade sealant around flange of Skin Fitting (Thru Hull) whilst holding the lower handle.
- Place into hull.
- From inside the hull place the backing washer and nut over the Skin Fitting (Thru Hull) Tool.
- Tighten the nut whilst holding upper handle of the Skin Fitting (Thru Hull) Installation Tool.
- Push the Skin Fitting (Thru Hull) Installation Tool back out by pinching the side clips, ready for use on the next Skin Fitting (Thru Hull).
Available in 5 sizes from ¾” to 2”, they are reusable and work with both TruDesign’s Domed or Recessed Skin Fittings(Thru Hulls).
Installing Skin Fittings (Thru Hulls) has always been a laborious task for both boat-builders and enthusiasts alike, whether it be during production fit outs or when undergoing routine maintenance replacing old corroded metallic thru-hulls.
The major inconvenience is due to the fact that traditionally two people are needed to complete the job – a person on the outside of the hull to hold the Skin Fitting (Thru Hull) in place and preventing it from turning whilst the second person, positioned on the inside of the hull, fits the washer and tightens the backing nut.
With TruDesign’s revolutionary Skin Fitting (Thru Hull) Installation Tools this procedure can now be performed by one person thus speeding up manufacture and maintenance.
An additional feature is the ability to hold the Skin Fitting (Thru Hull) securely which facilitates clean and easy application of the sealant.
